It’s Getting Out of Hand
You’ve been working hard to break old patterns around discipline, seeking advice from friends, family, books, and online resources. But it’s just not working—or at least not consistently. Your child may have frequent tantrums, ignore simple instructions, and leave you repeating the same things over and over. Whether it's whining, not listening, or acting out, it can feel overwhelming to see your child struggle with child behavior problems that seem to escalate.
From tantrums and backtalk to outright defiance, challenging behaviors can put a strain on the entire family. You’ve tried getting help, but either the waitlists are too long or what you’ve tried hasn’t really worked. If this sounds like you, a programs like Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) may be the answer.
Our parenting sessions put you in the driver seat and are designed to help you:
Reduce challenging behaviors
Strengthen parent-child relationships
Improve your child’s self-regulation and social skills
Why Parent Mediated Care
Immediate Support:
Long waitlists and limited access to therapists, makes it hard to get help when you need it. Behavioral Parent Training empowers you to manage behaviors now, and everyday on the spot without needing to wait for an appointment.
Understand the Why:
Gain insight into why your child's behaviors are occurring and build a personalized framework, rooted in your family's unique dynamics, to confidently navigate and problem-solve challenging situations.
Consistency:
While a therapist may see your child once a week, you are with them so much more and can apply the strategies every day multiple times a day. The strategies are easily adaptable, giving you the tools to address new behaviors and apply them consistently across multiple children.
Parent Management Training
Parent Management Training (PMT) is an evidence-based approach designed to address a wide range of child behavior challenges and improve overall family dynamics. PMT is especially effective for concerns like tantrums, defiance, aggression, noncompliance, ADHD/ASD-related behaviors, and sibling conflict. By teaching parents strategies to set consistent boundaries, manage misbehavior calmly, and reinforce positive actions, PMT empowers families to tackle these challenges confidently.
Through PMT, parents can help their children develop stronger social skills, emotional regulation, and resilience. Children not only benefit from a more structured, supportive home environment but also gain self-confidence and learn to handle frustrations more constructively. Ultimately, PMT helps set children on a path toward better peer relationships, improved academic performance, and healthier long-term emotional well-being.
What To Expect from PMT:
-
A reduction in challenging behaviors such as talking back, not listening, tantrums, defiance, and aggression.
-
Parents learn effective ways to communicate expectations clearly and effectively.
Children develop improved interpersonal skills, leading to more positive interactions with peers.
-
Parents become skilled at using praise and rewards to encourage desired behaviors so you don’t have to yell and repeat yourself.
This enhances trust and emotional connection between parents and children.
-
You will learn to manage your own emotions during difficult situations, modeling for your child how to do the same fostering a calmer home environment.
-
Establishment of consistent rules and daily routines that provide structure for children without you needing to remind them every step.
-
Develop strategies to address behavioral issues proactively rather than reactively so you feel in control rather than chaotically helpless.
Enhance cohesion between you and your partner so you can be on the same page before issues arise.
-
PMT equips parents with strategies to improve their child's compliance with school rules, establish effective homework routines, and foster motivation, leading to better academic outcomes and increased participation in school activities.
-
Research shows that Parent Management Training (PMT) not only improves child behavior but also significantly reduces parental stress by equipping parents with effective strategies and fostering a calmer, more positive family dynamic.
